Dean provides several opportunities for you to get involved both on and off campus. The Bulldogs LEAD program offers a variety of opportunities for leadership development through conferences and workshops. Emerging Leaders is an opportunity to begin building your leadership skill set in a fun, interactive environment with your peers. Each monthly workshop will consist of a facilitator and activities to delve into the topic.  Everyone will receive a staff mentor.  Open to all students.

Lead a club of interest on campus.

Want to lead a club?  As a club executive board member*, you will organize meetings, create meeting agendas, recruit membership, oversee the implementation of events, and more! Open to sophomore, junior, and senior students.

Become the voice of the students at Dean College.

Student Government Association (SGA) is the voice of the students. Student Government Association Senators* will relay feedback from their peers, discuss ways to make improvements on campus, and serve on campus committees.

Elections are done in September for first-year students to apply for the current academic year and in March for all students to apply for the next academic year.

Lead the Student Government Association Senators and be the voice of the student body.

Student Government Association (SGA) is the voice of the students.  Student Government Association Executive Board* members will lead the senators, organize meetings, serve on campus committees, and have regular meetings with senior management to relay the concerns and suggestions from the senators.

Facilitate hearings and make recommendations for minor violations of the Code of Student Conduct.

The role of the Student Conduct Panel is to facilitate hearings and make recommendations with respect to determinations of responsibility and sanctions for minor violations of the Code of Student Conduct. Open to all students. 

Work to assist incoming students in the process of transitioning from high school to college.

Orientation Leaders* are spirited students who work to assist incoming students in the process of transitioning from high school to college. 

Interviews are conducted in February for the upcoming summer New Student Orientation. Open to sophomore, junior, senior students.

Assist students in their academic transition at Dean College.

Peer mentors* are enthusiastic and compassionate and interested in assisting students in their academic transition at Dean College.  May be considered for internship credit or a volunteer leadership opportunity. Open to sophomore, junior, senior students.

Assist with conflicts, refer students to the services of different college departments, and serve on a campus-wide duty rotation.

Community Advisors* live in the residence halls and create community by maintaining regular contact with residents, assisting with conflicts, referring students to the services of different college departments, and serving on a campus-wide duty rotation.

Develop leadership, critical thinking and problem-solving skills among your team.

Team athletic captains* help develop leadership, critical thinking and problem-solving skills among their team.  This role requires a commitment and discipline to be an example for not just teammates, but the community at large. Open to sophomore, junior, senior students.

Give tours to prospective students and families.

Student Ambassadors* give tours to prospective students and families. An additional leadership opportunity is serving on the Student Ambassador Leadership Team which involves coordinating tour training, assisting with event planning, along with overseeing Social Media campaigns and other communications with the entire staff. Open to all students.

Be recognized for your academic and professional success as an honor society inductee.

Dean College offers a variety of potential honor societies* for students to be inducted into. These include: National Society of Leadership & Success (NSLS), Golden Key International Honor Society, Phi Theta Kappa, Chi Alpha Sigma, Alpha Sigma Lambda, National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA).

The NSLS is the largest leadership honor society in the United States.

Our NSLS chapter at Dean College was started in 2012 and is part of the national organization with 700+ chapters and over 1.4 million members.
