Program Overview
A strong understanding of science is the foundation for many of the fastest-growing, exciting and essential careers in our complex global economy. Dean College offers an associate degree in Science to provide you with the knowledge necessary to seamlessly transfer into further education or enter the life sciences job market.
As a Science major, you will complete foundational lab science courses while building liberal art skills through your general education course requirements. You’ll learn how to be an active member of the research process and recognize how the scientific method can be applied to a range of settings. You’ll also learn how to engage with scientific literature by reading and discussing papers, how to recognize how science occurs in a humanistic context and how to apply what you’re learning by developing problem solving skills. You will be also exposed to the practical applications of the discipline through guest speakers, projects and interactive courses using the same life sciences equipment found in research institutions and industry.

As a Science major at Dean, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to apply what you’re learning.You’ll work on hands-on projects to immerse you in the real world of science, hear from frequent guest speakers who provide insights into the field, and be exposed to real-world learning opportunities.
After receiving your associate degree in Science, you’ll be ready to continue your education in one of Dean’s bachelor’s degree programs or seek transfer to another college or university. Graduates from the Science program are ready to continue in the natural sciences, apply this foundation to diverse fields from business to education, or enter the life sciences industry.
