Theatre Students Participate in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival
Every year, the Dean College Theatre program participates in the annual Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF), which offers students and faculty tremendous opportunities to learn, network and share their craft with the collegiate theatre community at both the regional and national levels.
This year’s Region 1 festival was held from January 31 through February 4, 2023, at the Resort and Conference Center Hyannis, in Hyannis, MA. After two years of virtual festivals, this year marked the return to the in-person event with over 700 faculty members and students in attendance.
Dean was represented by 17 students and two faculty members: Daniel Kozar, assistant professor and program coordinator of Theatre and costume designer-in-residence; and Jim Beauregard, technical director and associate professor of Theatre and Dance. During the festival, Dean students took part in workshops on Stage Combat; Directing; Performance; Dramaturgy; and Design, Tech, and Management, as well as our traditional participation in the Irene Ryan Acting and Musical Theatre Auditions.
We are proud to announce the following student achievements:
Trish Dobson ’25 and Victoria Santiago ’23 placed in the finals of the Musical Theatre Auditions and presented their numbers in the Friday musical performance.
Lucy Young ’24 received a Meritorious Award for Excellence in Representation in Design, Technology and Management, in addition to the KCACTF award for Achievement in Stage Management.
Emily Goyette ’23 was presented with the David Wheeler Excellence in Director-Actor Communication Award.
Congratulations to all students and faculty for their dedication in representing Dean College! Learn more about the School of the Arts and Theatre programs at Dean College.
