Dean College True Colors Club

In honor of Pride Month this June, we’re proud to spotlight True Colors, Dean’s club for LGBTQ+ students and allies. We caught up with club treasurer Titi Stevenson ’24, a Human Services major, who shared more about the group and their advice for students looking to get involved.

Q: Tell us a little about True Colors.

Titi: “True Colors is the LGBTQ+ club on campus where we welcome all people of different races, genders, and identities to have a safe space where they can feel themselves. And it's not just for the LGBTQ+. It's also for allies too.”

Q: What types of events or activities does the group do during the school year?

Titi: “We are in our rebuilding stage of this club, so we only have done two or three events during the school year last year. We put on a Show Your Pride event with the Esports Club, we put on a visual for gun violence during Club Q shooting, and have done tons and tons of involvement fairs. Other than that, we have weekly meetings every Wednesday during the school year.”

Q: What are you looking forward to when the school year resumes?

Titi: “I’m looking forward to being back with my club and us going over different initiatives that we want to plan for the fall and spring semester. And having a community of people who are just like you or a little bit different than you in their ideas and talking with people.”

Q: How can students get involved with True Colors?

Titi: “If students want to get involved with True Colors, please come to our weekly meetings if you have the time because we’re open to new ideas and members. Find either myself or any other member on campus and ask us questions, or come to our weekly meetings and ask your questions there. We’re open, we’re honest, and we want more people to know that we are on this campus.”

Q: What impact do you hope True Colors makes on the Dean community?

Titi: “The impact that I am hoping True Colors brings or makes on the Dean community is a safe space for queer students and allies to come together to bring us up. And to let freshmen and potential students who didn’t have a community in their high school or their old college know that we’re here and we’re loud and proud to be us.”
