Fall is a beautiful time of year – the leaves are changing to gorgeous shades of red, orange and yellow, the air is crisp and the aroma of pumpkin spice is around us. Even if things are different this year, there are still plenty of activities you can do to get into the fall spirit! Read on for 5 ideas of how to celebrate the change in seasons this year, socially distanced of course!

  1. Take a hike. Take a break from your fast-paced daily life to get out into nature! The fresh chill of the fall air and seeing the beautiful foliage is so refreshing. Joes Rock, Wachusett Mountain State Reservation and Borderland State Park are all wonderful places to adventure in Massachusetts. If visiting from another state, please check the latest travel order requirements before entering Massachusetts.
  2. Indulge in fall inspired treats. Pumpkin spiced lattes, apple cider donuts and caramel apples are coming to a grocery store near you! Or make your own treats and enjoy your kitchen being filled with the sweet smell of autumn. Search for delicious recipes on YouTube, Pinterest or Google to find a treat to bake that satisfies your fall sweet tooth!
  3. Carve pumpkins. Get creative by carving a pumpkin! Bonus points if you carve a Dean College themed pumpkin (make sure to post it on social media and tag @deancollege and #deancollege)!
  4. Watch a Halloween movie marathon. Cozy up with a warm blanket, pour a glass of apple cider and turn on your favorite Halloween movies. Hocus Pocus, The Addams Family, Ghostbusters and more will all be playing on Freeform's 31 Days of Halloween this year – you won’t want to miss it!
  5. Attend a spooky ghost tour. There are many places in Massachusetts that offer ghost tours (while following proper safety protocol) so you and your family and friends can experience spooky season. Check out Boston Ghost Tours, Salem Ghost Tours and Dead of Night Ghost Tours for all of your spooky thrills.
